Bella Thorden, the “Beauty & The Beast” star, told the Associated Press on Wednesday that she’s transgender and that she identifies as a “queer woman.”
Thorne’s interview comes after actress Gaby Hoffmann revealed that she too identifies as transgender in an interview with the New York Times in February.
The transgender actress has been open about her transition in the past, and in an Instagram post, she wrote: “I am a queer woman and I’m also trans.
I am beautiful and I am fabulous.”
On Wednesday, Hoffmann spoke out in an appearance on “Inside Edition” about the issue.
She said she felt compelled to speak out after reading a recent article about the struggles faced by transgender women and girls, saying, “I felt really, really compelled to do something.”
The actress, who has been openly supportive of the transgender community, also told “Inside Live” that she was inspired by a young trans woman she knew who was living with gender dysphoria.
“She was just so strong and so courageous and had a lot of confidence and was just incredibly intelligent, which I felt was really inspiring to me and to so many of us,” she said.
“It really just speaks to me that transgender people are beautiful, they’re strong, they are brave and they are beautiful and that’s what I felt like the trans community needed.”
