
Katharine &: The Maureen is one of the most recognisable brands in the womenswear industry.
The company has been around for a long time and has been part of the fabric of Australian womens fashion for generations.
But what is a Maureen?
Maureen, as its trademarked name is, means ‘mamma’.
And this is exactly what Katharine is aiming to make for its 2020 womens clothes campaign.
“I think what we are going to be really excited about is making Maureen women’s fashion really synonymous with a lot of things,” says Kath.
The brand is launching the campaign in three different colours and, along with a range of other new womens clothing items, Kath is also working on a range for men’s, too.
Kath says that her goal is to create a new brand, not a brand that is limited to the women’s world.
“It’s going to look at a wider range of things and really give a really good answer to the questions that women ask about what their clothes are for,” she says.
“We’re also going to give some really great products for men as well.”
The Maury womens and womens wear range, featuring dresses, jackets and coats, will launch on February 14, 2020.
It’s been 20 years since Maureen was founded in 1982, but the company’s focus is still on women’s, says its founder Katharine.
“This is really the brand we started out as, as well as being a fashion brand,” she tells me.
“But we think women really need to be in control of their own clothing.”
The range of products will include a range from womens underwear to womens skirts, while womens swimwear will also be featured in the campaign.
In 2017, Maureen launched the Maury women’s and women wear range.
As well as womens apparel, Maury has also produced womens accessories and wombs, which include baby products.
Maureen has been in the business for more than 30 years, and has had a hand in making women’s apparel in Australia and overseas for the past 40 years.
“We’ve been in womens business for 50 years and there have been some great brands coming up,” she explains.
“When I started, I thought it would be nice to be a part of a brand, to be part of something.”
The company’s next campaign, Maumies womens shoes, is launching on February 10.
And there’s plenty more to come.
Maureen womens womens jackets will be on sale from February 16, 2020, and the Maumie womens dress range will be launched in April 2020.
“Maureen’s womens brand has been going on for 20 years,” says co-founder Katharine, “so we’ve got a lot to look forward to in the next couple of years.”
